But I never hear it talked about and have even seen lists of “every Saturn shmup” that left it off. I think it’s a very nice package and great for learning the genre and very reasonably priced from what I have seen unless that’s changed. There’s also different endings for every character and even some interesting little features like in 2 player characters having different interactions based on who each player picked. I got a copy very reasonably priced and what you get here is a very fun very colorful shooter with like five different playable characters (I think it’s five) and the best feature to me, a sliding difficulty scale with 10 different difficulty modes.
Idk if it’s a hidden gem or disparaged by people for reasons I’m not aware of. But if gunbird is ever mentioned it’s very passively like “there’s also gunbird I guess”…. What strikes me as weird though is when you talk about Saturn shooters you often hear about how galactic attack and darius gaiden are usually kind of reasonable because they got us releases so the Japan copies aren’t bad but that other Saturn shooters will cost you your soul. Does gunbird count? I know people are aware of it sort of and it came out in a few different forms.
